The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that the improved air quality is due to the strong surface winds, expected to blow till December 7.

Delhi breathed clean air on Wednesday after a gap of 50 days as the air quality was recorded in the 'moderate' category, offering much-needed respite from the high levels of pollution.

According to the Central Pollution Control Board's (CPCB) daily AQI bulletin, city's index value on Wednesday was 178, reeling under the moderate zone.

An AQI between 0 and 50 is considered 'good', 51-100 'satisfactory', 101-200 'moderate', 201-300 'poor', 301-400 'very poor', and 401-500 'severe'. Delhi's air quality has seen consistent improvement this week.

Delhi residents woke up to slightly-improved air quality on Tuesday as the Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 274 in the morning, marking the third consecutive day of relief. The beginning of December has been relatively easier for Delhiites to breathe compared to November, which saw toxic air persisting on most days of the month.

Delhi's air quality improves to 'moderate' category with Air Quality Index at 211, as per CPCB data on Wednesday.

The 24-hour average AQI at 4 pm was slightly lower than Sunday's 285. Since October 30, air quality had been in the ‘very poor’ and ‘severe’ categories.

At 8 am, data from multiple monitoring stations showed a significant improvement in AQI compared to the “very poor” category reported last week. According to the CPCB, Major Dhyan Chand Stadium recorded an AQI of 209,

Delhi's air quality improved to the 'Moderate' category on Wednesday morning after three days of 'Poor' AQI readings. Reports show Aya Nagar at 163, DTU at 178, and IGI Airport at 179. Other areas like Anand Vihar and Jahangirpuri still reported poor air quality.
