The Boston Red Sox and Chicago White Sox agreed to the biggest trade of the offseason (so far) on Wednesday, closing out the Winter Meetings by agreeing to a deal that sends the All-Star left-hander Garrett Crochet to Fenway Park in exchange for a four-player package.

Boston sent two of its top-five prospects to the White Sox for an ace who has a tantalizingly high ceiling but carries a thin track record as a starter.

After striking out on some of their initial free-agent targets, the Boston Red Sox decided to go the trade route to address their need for a starting
