The Salvation Army of Greenville announced that one of its Red Kettles was reported stolen on Wednesday. The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Impact Campaign raises money during Christmas to support the organization’s mission work in the community all year long.

Salvation Army bell ringers are out in full force with Red Kettles at about 30 locations throughout the area, like one inside the lobby of the Tops on Main and Union in Williamsville. It’s a fundraising event dating back to the late 1800s.

The Salvation Army is asking residents, businesses and local foundations to dig a little deeper in donating this year because they are far from their fundraising goal, according to Captain Ted Tressler.
