Google Wallet is rolling out support for US passports. The app is also adding a new state to its group of supported digital IDs.

For now, this feature can only be used for US domestic flights. It's not valid for entering or exiting the country yet, so it'll initially function more as a backup form of ID.

The TSA is accepting Americans’ biometric passports presented as an ID pass within Google Wallet at select checkpoints. Not for international flights though.

Google is now rolling out the ability to make a digital ID from your passport that you can store in Google Wallet and use at select TSA checkpoints — but only as a generic form of ID. It does not serve as a passport itself, Google spokesperson Liz Schulten tells The Verge: “The digital ID can’t be used at immigration and border control.”
