Florida State officially announced the hiring of new defensive coordinator Tony White on December 5. White joins the Seminoles after two seasons as the defensive coordinator at Nebraska where he developed some of the top defenses in the country.

Contingent on, payable after, and subject to the signing of a formal Employment Contract on or before the 90-day expiration of this Letter of Understanding, FSU will fund a buyout of Coach's current contract with Nebraska, subject to negotiation. Coach White will help offset the payout over the course of his contract by the following:

White turned down at least one opportunity to leave Nebraska after last season. And now, Matt Rhule's best hire is officially moving on.
