Grand Rapids Glow: Santa Parade and Tree Lighting Usher in the Season with Evening Spectacle
Grand Rapids, Michigan celebrated its Santa Parade and tree lighting on Saturday, with activities starting at dusk.

The parade started at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7, from the corner of Division and Michigan Street NW, and Santa Claus led the way to Rosa Parks Circle for the tree lighting around 6:45 p.m.

The parade is looking for more volunteers to keep the route safe since this year, it will take place at night.

Santa Claus came to town on Saturday when the Grand Rapids Santa Parade rolled through the city. At Rosa Parks Circle, the annual tree lighting followed.
Grand Rapids Santa Parade to ring in 2024 Christmas season
The free event will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7, along Monroe Center St. NW in downtown Grand Rapids.
Grand Rapids Santa Parade still needs volunteers
Hines said the parade already has more than 50 volunteers lined up, many from the Fans of Valley Field and the Grand Rapids Jaycees (which formerly ran the parade). Still, organizers could use as many as 30 more helpers. You can sign up at GRsantaparade.com.
