Instagram and Meta's entire suite of social apps, including Facebook, Messenger, and Threads, are all down on Tuesday in a major outage

Outage tracker Downdetector shows big spikes for Instagram with 70,000 outage reports above average and Facebook, which had over 100,000 outage reports, as of Wednesday afternoon. Outage reports began to decline in volume after a peak around 1:10 p.m. ET.

All of Meta ’s platforms – Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger and Threads – appear to have broken in a huge outage. The company’s systems appear to have suffered a major technical issue at around 6pm UK time, or 10 am local pacific time.

On Wednesday, several popular apps, including Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp, and Facebook Messenger, experienced widespread outages, as reported by DownDetector.

Instagram outage reports began spiking at around 10 a.m. PT/1 p.m. ET, according to Downdetector, and the same time frame hit on Facebook, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp and Threads. (Disclosure: Downdetector is owned by the same parent company as CNET, Ziff Davis.)

Meta's Facebook was down for more than 50,000 users on Wednesday, while Instagram was down for more than 23,000 users, according to outage tracking website Downdetector.com. (Reporting by Deborah Sophia in Bengaluru;
