Mumbai: With 9 weeks to go for the 2025 Champions Trophy’s proposed February 19 start, the International Cricket Council (ICC) is expected to finalise on Saturday that the tournament will be played in a hybrid model.

LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board and the Board of Control for Cricket in India have retracted from their earlier stance, agreeing to play their future matches in ICC tournaments on a hybrid model and easing the way for next year’s Champions Trophy to be held.

The Pakistan Cricket Board have reportedly retained full hosting rights for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 but will not be compensated for agreeing to a hybrid model. However, the ICC has promised Pakistan a Women's tournament after 2027.

The dispute between PCB and BCCI over the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is still unresolved. The schedule, originally planned for release in November, has been delayed due to BCCI's refusal to play in Pakistan.

A similar hybrid model was adopted during the men's 50-over Asia Cup last year, when Pakistan hosted the tournament.
